Data Scientist, Center on Human Trafficking Research & Outreach Hui Yi is an Assistant Research Scientist/Data Scientist at the School of Social Work (SSW). Before joining SSW, she was a faculty member in tertiary education for five years, where she taught several undergraduate/graduate courses in advanced statistics. Yi’s expertise lies in machine learning methods, Bayesian methods, Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation algorithms, multivariate statistical analysis, survey design, survey methods, longitudinal analysis, etc. Her research centers around devising statistical and data science methods and techniques to solving complex problems in the application fields such as genetics and social sciences. She has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on eight projects, including three anti-human trafficking research projects funded by the U.S. Department of State, totaling over $30 millions U.S. dollars. She played a pivotal role overseeing and executing the quantitative research of the projects.
